Yep. Got all the hardware troubles fixed — just in time for a new crop of economic troubles to GeezerCast about. Topics include weird US stock-market gyrations, weird Greek currency gyrations and weird political gyrations. Since GeezerCasts are really just a chronicle of weird events for my unborn grandchildren, it looks like the pace may pick up.

GC046 — Financial news is like Y2k news

In the early days of the Y2k problem, there were Pollyannas and Doomers. One side said “no problem!” the other side said “this is the end of the world as we know it.” Neither side was right — we muddled through. Now the sub-prime mortgage problem looks a lot the same way to me, with very polarized opinion and little credible info in the middle. That’s what I ruminate about in this Geezercast.

And Marcie just forwarded an interesting piece from the Times that supports my view that biofuels are dumb — at least the way we’re approaching them right now.

GC033 — Weather station repeaters, and wireless Internet

Mostly this is the tale of fixing my Davis Vantage Pro weather station’s repeaters after the system conked out yesterday. I almost typed the word “diagnosing” instead of “fixing” in that first sentence, but truth be told I never figured out why the things crapped out, or how I fixed them. The experience provided me a springboard to rant some more about wireless Internet.

GC021 – Bug in the ear, pedophiles and Nashville Democrats

Summer’s winding down and the Geezercast quotient is rising as farm activity starts to move indoors. A few things in the NY Times caught my eye — a story about pedophiles that paints a perfect road-map for people are looking for support in that activity (I’m wondering whether the author really realized what he was doing) and another piece about how song-writers with Democratic political points of view are being shut out of country music (with implications that make me grumpy).

Not to mention the story of getting a dang bug caught in my ear. How can you resist all that??
